“Must we always teach our children with books? Let them look at the mountains and the stars up above. Let them look at the beauty of the waters and the trees and flowers on earth. They will then begin to think, and to think is the beginning of a real education.”  – David Polis

Universities

If you are looking for accommodation and a location for a field course or a residential study week, both Kilve Court & the Outdoor Centre and Charterhouse offer comfortable fully catered accommodation for your students. Key reasons university groups utilise our centres:

  • Both Charterhouse and Kilve have workroom and breakout spaces to deliver indoor sessions during your course. At Kilve we have spaces to present to over 100 people, along with 5 further workrooms. We can provide projectors, flipcharts and whiteboard facilities.
  •  We provide hearty meals, including a cooked breakfast, packed lunch and a home cooked dinner. We cater for a range of dietary requirements, including vegans.
At Kilve Court & the Outdoor Centre, we can accommodate groups of over 200 students, and at Charterhouse groups of 50 students.
  • Both Centres are in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), surrounded by wonderful field sites and dramatic protected landscapes. Engineering students often visit the nuclear power station being constructed at Hinckley, ecology groups regularly utilise the Nature Reserve a shot walk from Charterhouse and the rocky shore 15 minutes’ walk from Kilve. We are happy to share our local knowledge about the special locations near our Centres and talk through different local sites in the Mendip and Quantock AONBs.
  • If you would like to integrate teambuilding, hill walks and adventurous activities into your programme we can design a programme to meet your specific requirements.
